On Our Bay Boats
 Each one of our bay boats are equipped with the MotorGuide Xi5. Thats 6 full production electric trolling motors in the water every day full time all year round. We use and abuse these things in ways a recreational boater can only imagine.

Things have always been progressing forward in the way of electric trolling motors especially with MotorGuide. The Xi5 is the tip of the spear in technology and keeps us on the edge with our competitors and on top of our fish. GPS has been added into the many features that already made this an amazing electric trolling motor and we use these features religiously. The new digital motor is super smooth, quiet and powerful. All that means these tolling motors are also more efficient making batteries last longer. In our flats fishing the stealth nature of the XI5 allows us to sneak up on spooky fish such as permit, bonefish and tarpon.
Anchoring is a pain in the butt, stating it frankly. The MotorGuide Xi5 makes this laborious task not only easy but also very strategic. Using the Anchor mode on the Xi5 remote control a push of a button holds you in the same place. Auto steering and propulsion to maintain you position exactly. The competitive models we bench tested against such as MinnKota were not able to keep in the same spot nearly as well with 5-7 ft shifts. The MotorGuide Xi5 holds us right on target with little or no noticeable variable. Thats AWESOME.. When we are tarpon fishing the fish will stay in groups in a certain spot. We get to that spot where our anglers can cast to them and we want to hold there just press a button. Its like silently hovering on the fish without dropping an anchor, the computer in the trolling motor takes over and we stay put. As a fishing guide this is an awesome application so we can focus on getting our anglers on and into the fish over and over again.
Straight Line Courses are easy with the Xi5 GPS functions. A feature we use allot is the line function. For example, Pulling into a flat where quiet is needed and some specialty rigging is required for the fish we are pursuing. We will switch to trolling motor out about 500 yards to make sure of a silent entry. We know our area so well we know exactly where we want to be on the flat to start our fishing. The Straight line function makes this super easy. Put the motor head pointed right at the place you want to be on the flat, set your speed of approach and push the button. The motor will take you there perfectly and quietly while as a guide we get set up or tell our anglers what is about to happen. Once we are on scene we press the button again and continue on manually to maneuver into position.
Tracks and Routes are not something we use allot here but its also available. The Xi5 will remember extensive routes and re- track them when asked forward or backward. A very cool feature for guys who hit the same areas over and over.
